All Semi-Precious Stones

A deep claret stone of quiet rarity, valued for the faint star drawn across its dome under a single light.

The Stone

Star garnet is almandine with a secret: rutile silk within the crystal that, cut to a dome and lit by a single source, draws a faint four-rayed star across the surface. It is among the rarer asterisms in the trade, and the quietest.

Disposition

The house conveys star garnet under counsel: each cabochon photographed under the light that shows its star, weighed, and papered. These are stones for collectors and old jewel houses, supplied with their provenance stated.
